Creating a working model for ongoing assessment, development and delivery of Christian discipleship curriculum and training.
Revising curriculum and training on a regular basis in ways that maintain relevance in a changing culture.
The Teen Challenge curriculum committee has developed and written Group Studies for New Christians (GSNC) and Personal Studies for New Christians (PSNC). The GSNC classes are nearing completion of revision and the PSNC materials are in the process of being revised along with the PSNC Teacher Certification.
We realize that the GSNC materials are only introductory discipleship--lacking depth. We also understand that the existing PSNC materials only scratch the surface of what is needed--lacking scope. What is needed for a full one-year-long discipleship program needs further development. TC centers around the country and the world work to recognize and develop discipleship curriculum that will meet the needs of their students.
This project has been code named “TC Remix”. The name came from the belief that ministries across the country have already discovered, written and implemented great materials. Rather than reinventing curriculum we can take the best ideas and make them available to all ministries (remix), and we will only need to find, develop, or write curriculum where there are still “gaps” in student discipleship training.
Recognizing the need for further development and having the desire to develop a plan to address this need, 11 directors and staff members from a variety of Teen Challenge ministries across the country met, May 2010, to discuss the successes and needs of Teen Challenge student curriculum and staff training. From that strategic planning meeting five action plans were developed to help move us forward in developing and improving resources to meet the needs.
To develop these plans information needs to be gathered. Local center directors and education directors may be contacted by various committee members to ask questions that will help us move forward with these projects.
YOU are part of this project!
We need – we WANT your input!
Your participation is essential.
Please take time to respond to phone calls and surveys.
Have you written curriculum for your ministry or do you have a gift for writing curriculum, and you're not afraid to have your writing reviewed and edited?
It is our desire to have a few more directors or center education directors assisting with this project. If you have some time to help with one of these projects and are able to attend one or two committee meetings per year please contact me.
Together we can do this!
